Fifa, IOC, the Mafia

There's been loads of noise made over this ambush marketing by Bavaria Beer at the world cup.... And Bavaria must be rubbing their hands together because of the amount of publicity they have received over it...
I also feel a bit sorry for Robbie Earle (what the hell is he expected to do with 50 free tickets and why are ITV allocating that amount to one person??) and the fact that some people are actually facing prison for wearing an Orange dress to a world cup match because it has upset Fifa, who will make millions from the world cup and not pay any tax for the privalege because they are a registered charity.

This got me thinking about the Olympics in 2012 and I found the link below. The section on Infringement is really interesting. Certain words and phrases will be trademarked so only official sponsors can use them... Such as Olympics, London, 2012, TwentyTwelve, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Medals and Summer!

Basically if a local Cafe in Stratford tries to sell an 'Olympic Breakfast' as a marketing ploy, they could face prosecution...... These words can only be used by companies such as McDonalds and Budweiser because they've paid to use the words!

Sorry, this really pisses me off and I had to get it off my chest...

Now going back to Fifa, Another interesting fact I found out was that Fifa would only allow South Africa to host the world cup after they passed a law on copyright infringement as they didn't have a law against this before..

Want another one?
Ok... a couple of years ago, Spain were fined £40,000 because of their fans racist chanting.. Croatia were also fined £40,000 for similar offensives..
Meanwhile Cameroon were fined over double this for wearing an unofficial and unsanctioned football kit during the last African Cup of  Nations...

That's my last rant about Fifa.....Oh hang on... No it isn't....

Should I also mention that at 2006 World Cup Sepp Blatter, Jack Warner and other fifa executives made over $1 million  from selling their free ticket allocations.. None of them paid the money back or aplogised....Why should they, they are Fifa and don't you forget it!

Favourite World Cup Moments EVER!

The World Cup starts on Friday and I'm really, really looking forward to it!
The reason why is that we are guaranteed to get moments of complete idiocy.. Here are my Top 12 ridiculous World Cup moments.

12)       Austria Vs Germany 1982
Both Sides needed a draw to advance to the next Round.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZR1s5O2SLY

11)      Chilli Vs Italy 1962
Possibly the most violent game of football ever played.. Not including the games I used to have to play on the Isle of Sheppey when I was 15.

10)      Zidane Headbutt
It really was the last thing everyone was expecting.

9)     Denmark side 1986
One of the best sides in the world in 1986.. – This performance confirms this..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDbIOyG1sxI
Then they go and implode against Spain in the next round.

8)      Holland V Portugal 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeOoJ2SQTTo
The most cards to have ever been shown during a world cup match

7)      Owen v Argentina - 1998
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51AHO2Ufaho
I was working in a pub when this was on…I just remember seeing the goal go in and then having to quickly take cover from all the beer that was thrown through the air in celebration…. David Beckham was sent off whilst I was changing a barrel, I didn't know what had happened when I came out of the cellar.. The bar was silent but the score was still 2-2.  And most memorably,  I shared a drink or two with some very cool Argentinians outside afterwards…

6)      Lineker v Germany - 1990
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEwlBC7pq6s
1990 was MY world Cup… Everyone gets one.  Brilliantly re-enacted on Phoenix from the flames..

5)      Scotland Vs Uruguay - 1986
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIhw3XN_itg
Kick-Fest 86.. All Uruguay had to do to qualify was stop Scotland scoring or something like that…

4)      Schumacher vs Battiston - 1982
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3byTNRoxujo
Battiston was in hospital for at least 4 days afterwards.. The referee only gave a goal-kick.

3)      Claudio Canigia Vs Cameroon - 1990
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeRlJJbtdHc
This is amazing for the fact an Argentinean will NOT go down and take the free kick… Whatever the Cameroons throw at him (mainly flailing limbs), this man will not be beaten…. Or will he?

2) Kuwait Vs France - 1982
A Kuwaiti Prince or someone demanding a goal be disallowed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5AuQHurQ8w
……And it is disallowed.

AND at Number 1......

1)      Zaire Vs Brazil - 1974
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lHkgeBk82c
My favourite moment ever.. Here is the re-enactment from the Phoenix from the Flames section on Fantasy Football League.
